John G. Schumacher, Ph.D. has been a medical sociologist and gerontologist for 30 year focusing on EDs and older adults. He consults on the creation and operation of Geriatric EDs holds faculty appointments in Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and in the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). Don Melady has been an emergency physician and educator based at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada, he is the founding chair of the Geriatric EM Committee at the International Federation of Emergency Medicine. He is also faculty for the Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative and part of the GED Accreditation team.
